Cate Conquers Cannes!
The Festival de Cannes mission: “to draw attention to and raise the profile of films, with the aim of contributing towards the development of cinema, boosting the film industry worldwide and celebrating cinema at an international level”. To date, the festival has remained faithful to its founding purpose.
At this year’s Festival, there were plentiful red carpet looks to evaluate. Instead, I’m drawing my attention to an actress who for me, owned each and every one of her red carpet looks…
She is an Australian actress and theatre director. She has received international acclaim and many accolades for her work, including two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, three BAFTA Awards, six AACTA Awards, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards… Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Miss Cate Blanchett!
When it comes to pure class and style, Blanchett never disappoints! From head to toe, she brings it all together exquisitely. And that she delivered in every outfit she wore at this year’s Festival de Cannes. Let’s take a glimpse at her outstanding red carpet looks…
Though black was the common dominator in most of her looks, she drew me in with this Givenchy gown, which had pleated ruffles in bold hues and matched with a fitted high neck top. Slicked back hair to the side tied it all elegantly together.
Taking a stand on waste, a massive issue facing the fashion industry, Blanchett re-wears her gorgeous Armani Privé gown that was created for her back in 2014. This time, she gives it more a Latino look with her hair neatly parted and tied in a bun at the back, teamed with statement Chopard earrings!
The ‘Paint by Numbers’ gown by designer Mary Katrantzou was another show stopper that Blanchett arrived in for the premiere of ‘Cold War’. The custom creation was hand embroidered with sequins, bugle beads, and Swarovski crystals.
Saving the best for last, at the closing ceremony she stepped out in a stunning Alexander McQueen tuxedo gown. Exquisite sharp tailoring which had a captivating draped bow back, creating the impression of wings; the gown had such a mind-blowing effect!
Cate you consistently rule it when it comes to red carpet style. The glamour and spectacle of Cannes was astounding and I look forward to you continuing your reign.
Maurizio ;-)
