Attention! - Fashion is a Battlefield.
With fashion being the ultimate uniform, it’s logic that military style looks and elements have actioned their way into our wardrobes. When I think military, visions of G.I. Joe in camouflaged attire pop to mind, as well as Goldie Hawn as the hilarious Private Benjamin, who lived a sheltered wealthy upbringing then went to completing her army training with distinction. I guess psychologically when we wear military attire, it’s a feeling of power, importance and control - an aura to being part of an alliance.
So, before you drop and give me 20 (push-up’s, that is), let’s take a look at what inspiring pieces are ahead of us in the wonderful world of military style.
Utility Suits
The utility suit was a big hit with several designers this spring. From the slouchy utility suit to separates that look like one, the versatility of the suit means it can be worn with sneakers for day to a more feminine look at night when paired with a great heel!
Military Jackets
I guess you can see the military jacket as a statement outerwear, providing a sort of fashion armour letting you take on the big wide world. It’s a determined jacket with regal flair such as brass buttons and charismatic collars. It'll elevate everything from jeans-and-tees to black sundresses this coming spring.
Military Colours
If you’re not partial to full regalia, you can still settle for street style’s front-line colour, khaki. You can go all out and wear it from top to toe or match it with your basic hues of black, navy and whites.
So, for all you inspiring captains, soldiers and lieutenants out there who want to feel strong and powerful… or even a little regal, military has become something of a fashion classic!
