The Emmys 2018

It’s the night of night where celebrities from the small screen glam it up for the annual Emmy Awards.

An evening for these stars to dress to the nines in haute couture from some of the worlds famous fashion houses. A flock of stars rose to the occasion and set the bar, delighting us with their outstanding attire… others, well... clearly missed the dress code for such a grand ceremonial event!

The delicate hue of white showcased on the red carpet, bringing that element of class. I love the subtle pattern in Jessica Biel’s gown by Ralph & Russo, delivering a fresh vintage feel.

Kristen Bell wearing Solace London - though her gown is not a huge 'wow' factor, it’s the element of simplicity which makes her look elegant and chic.

On the other hand, Scarlett Johansson wearing Balmain looks sharp and chic. The construction of the gown compliments her stunning figure, completing her look with a sexy slick hair-do.

For us gentlemen, a suit can, at times, be simple and not very adventurous. Though RuPaul found quite the opposite in this statement suit by Calvin Klein. It comes across as the silhouette of the Statue of Liberty and it’s that minor detail that makes a point of difference.

Last but not least in white, Penelope Cruz. Although it is Chanel Haute Couture, and yes, a statement gown, I can’t help but relate it to something from Gone with the Wind! A little too hoola-hoopie for me!

From the delicate whites, many still rely on the sophistication and elegance that the colour black always brings. The stand out for me would have to be Angela Sarafyan wearing Christian Siriano. This was a ‘wow’ statement gown - the perfect attire for such red carpet events.

Closely behind her was Sarah Paulson. You can’t beat a classic ostrich feather gown for any red carpet event, especially when it’s elegantly designed by Oscar de la Renta.

And to the little black duckling who may have thought it was a night out with the girls instead of the Emmy’s, Elisabeth Moss clearly missed the boat. A little effort, my dear, is required for such a grand event! Do remember next time to tailor your outfit for the occasion.

From the monochromes to the colourful ones which lighten the red carpet from pastels to bold rich tones. Allison Janney just dazzled in this raspberry-hued, sequined Prabal Gurung gown. I just love the addition of her emerald green earrings which just elevated her look!

Another element of simplicity, this time in a bold pink hue, Thandie Newton in Brandon Maxwell. So simple yet so refined!

It isn’t easy being green, unless you’re Dakota Fanning wearing Christian Dior. The beautiful pleating to the gown suggests old Hollywood glamour, and the hue compliments her delicate porcelain skin.

'Gold! Always believe in your soul', once sang Spandau Ballet. Natalia Dyer is doing just that, in this stunning embroidered Dolce & Gabbana gown.

And that’s a wrap on this year’s Emmy’s red carpet looks. A toast to all of those that rose to the occasion and strutted their stuff on the red carpet in pure style!
